The beautiful Blackwood trees that surround our home are fascinating to me - the way their leaves change colour from a soft blue-green to a warm & mossy green.. the way they explode with bloom and fill the air with the sweet smell of their pollen at the first signs of spring.. the way their seeds dangle our of the pods once they burst open, and eventually fall to the ground and germinate with the exposure to heat.

This painting is an original oil painting, it was a wonderful feeling to paint using oils again. Free flowing, experimental & satisfying!

Thank you Blackwood for creating an ever-changing environment, for reminding me that spring is just around the corner, and for attracting an abundance of wildlife.
